Hello and welcome to Gales Ferry Karate.

I would like to welcome you to our site and invite you to train with us.
My name is Donald Palko, Shihan; I hold a 6th Degree Black Belt in A.I.M.A Shotokan karate-jitsu.
I began my training in 1979 at the F.H. Buhl Club in Sharon Pennsylvania under the tutelage of Hanshi Max Ciscell and Soke Joseph Bonacci.
We are proud members of the American Institute of Martial Arts and the International Brotherhood of Martial Artists.

Our goal is to build GREAT Martial Artists, that are Ladies and Gentlemen stressing good Citizenship for students of all ages.
Our goal is to provide all of our student with the tools to maintain Healthy Bodies, Minds and Spirits
and establish good habits that will help them maintain a healthy lifestyle for the rest of their lives.

DOJO KUN

The Dojo Kun are the 5 precepts created by Shotokan's Founder Gichin Funakoshi. They are recited by all students before and after class to remind all Karate Practicioners that the Martial Arts are not only about building good fighters, but also building good citizens of Good Character, with Self-Confidence, Self-Control and Self-Discipline.

The Dojo Kun is:

Refrain from Violent Behavior

CLASS DAYS AND TIMES

Tuesday & Thursday

Little Tigers: 6:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.

Youth Class: 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Adults class 8:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Saturday

Little Tigers: 10:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

Combined Class (Youth and Adults):
10:30 a.m. - Noon

BLACK BELT CLASSES
(When Scheduled)
Saturdays

Little Tigers: Schedle not affected
Combined Class: is shortened by 1/2 hr.
BLACK BELT CLASS:
11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Tuesday or Thursday
Little Tigers and Youth as above:
Black Belt Class:
7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Brown Belts are invited at Shihan Palko's
Discretion and subject matter to be presented


TESTING DAYS AND TIMES

We test 3 times a year.
The testing dates for 2014 are:
April 14, August 16 and
December 13.
Testing Fees ($40.00/test) are required on or before the the day of test.

Testing begins promptly at 10:00 a.m.
Testing Candidates and Non Testing Students are are required to be at the Dojo at 9:30 a.m. to help set up and assist the Black Belts.
Brown Belt Candidates are required to arrive at 9:15 a.m. to accomplish their requirements prior to the test.
